Shot some SWEET portraits and wedding photos in beautiful Santa Barbara with Eric Farewell this past weekend. I mean, we couldn't have asked for better weather, better locations, or a more beautiful & cool couple. And of course I always love the freedom that comes with being a second shooter instead of the primary shooter; I get to be more creative (and risky) with the shots I make...
Here's a shot from the Santa Barbara Courthouse. You *know* I was rockin' the off-camera flash all day long, but for this shot I just decided to turn the lights off and see how it looked. Kisses and silhouettes are cliche, I know, but I'll be the first to admit that I have a touch of cliche / cheesy in my style anyways. I hope it works... I dunno about you but I *love* the reflection...
Nikon D300 - Nikon 17-55 2.8 - 17mm - f/9.5 - 1/180 sec - ISO 100
Kelvin WB - Manual exposure - RAW capture - Bridge CS3 processing
I'll have more wedding photos to blog throughout the week, hopefully. Got a ton of stuff to do, and a lot of big things happening in my life right now...
Take care,
=Matt=

Ooo.... I like it! I bet being the second shooter IS a lot more fun
A great shot in one of my favorite places!
I hope they're big GOOD things.
No one does "cliche" as good as you do! And I've never seen a silhouette against this building, great photo story
Wow! That is TOTTALY amazing!
Psh... Cliche and boring
Please DON'T dis silouettes. It's just another angle. Cheesy is heads smahed together, please aviod that one.
How fun to hang with Eric. Thanks for posting those great model shots and sharing yourself!
it works man...=)
It does work. And the reflection lighting is super.
You guys are so cute:) And hey, cheesy can be good. Everyone wants the cheesy happily-ever-after right??
Hey Matt, if you ever need an assistant on the weekends or monday / friday afternoons, let me know =]
Matt, great work as always! I would LOVE to know what your favorite setting is for focus. I find, for some reason that I have too many choices and am never happy with any of them. What is your favorite on and in camera (I too have the same lens and camera). Just curious.
P.S. Thanks for sharing all your work!!!
@Bluehair7 - Thanks... I knew I wasn't the only sucker for cheesy...
@rittlette - My favorite what? Autofocus mode? I'd love to help you master your camera but there are just a few too many focus settings on the D300 for me to explain exactly how I work. And to be honest, I actually use ALL the different focus modes, depending on the situation...
Physical camera settings and how they work are best explained in person, I fear. Hopefully sometime we'lll cross paths?
Of course if you have any *specific* questions about an exact / particular setting, I'd love to answer!
Take care,
=Matt=
